The Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB®) is a major international event for trail-runners. Each year, the elite of the trail-running world gets together in Chamonix representing almost 10,000 runners to push their mental and physical limits.
The UTMB® combines the excitement of the event with a spirit of solidarity. Each runner has the opportunity to give back to a non-profit association such as La Chaîne de l’Espoir by signing up for the race with a charity bib.
Run for us to support children from Vietnam
By choosing to run for La Chaîne de l’Espoir, you give the opportunity to a cardiac child to receive the life-changing surgery and treatment he needs in Vietnam.
Opened in July 2018, the children’s pavilion has been welcoming more than a hundred children over a year, of which 25 have also benefited from a cardiac surgery. Looking at the surgical needs in 2020, La Chaîne de l’Espoir will continue to accommodate children and aims at supporting the medical care of 30 children in need of a cardiac surgery.
To meet those needs, La Chaîne de l’Espoir, together with the Franciscan and Dominican nuns, decided to open a children’s pavilion in Hô Chi Minh-City, a 10-bed accommodation to welcome indigent children in need of medical exams or surgical operations. The children also benefit from free healthcare and transportation; all costs being covered by La Chaîne de l’Espoir. For instance, the cost of cardiac surgery is around 3,000 euros.
