The 13thWest African teaching seminaron pediatric surgery
As part of the program to support the teaching of pediatric surgery in West Africa, La Chaîne de l’Espoir France, in agreement with the Universities of Abidjan, Lomé, Cotonou, Dakar, Conakry and Ouagadougou, has been organizing practical and theoretical teaching seminars since 2014, bringing together teachers and student doctors from 6 countries in the sub-region.
These seminars, organized and financed in collaboration with La Chaîne de l’Espoir Belgium, take place in a different country of the sub-region each time. The themes addressed for each session correspond to different paediatric specialties, such as visceral or orthopaedic surgery.
The seminar will be taught by French and Belgian volunteer surgeons specializing in orthopedics, and in urology, in acquired or congenital anomalies of the urethra.
They will benefit some fifty doctors currently specializing in pediatric surgery.
An inaugural ceremony organized by Pr Michel Armand Fiogbé, Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department at CHNU HKM, and the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Health at the University of Abomey-Calavi, will take place on Monday November 22 at 5pm in the Faculty’s Grand Amphi.
This inaugural session will serve as a reminder of the importance of improving access to care and surgery for children in West Africa, and the importance of appropriate awareness and prevention programs.
