Xavier Lucas, founder of the XL Biking association, has set himself a sporting and social challenge: to cycle 4,255 km to raise funds for destitute children in Togo. From Copenhagen to Berlin, via Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga and Warsaw, Xavier Lucas will be wearing the colors of La Chaîne de l’Espoir.

This solidarity initiative follows an initial commitment alongside La Chaîne de l’Espoir. Indeed, since January 2018, consulting firm Edcom, founded by Xavier Lucas, has been one of the NGO’s private partners, supporting the “Education and Health” program in Togo.

In order to perpetuate his commitment to humanitarian associations, this business leader has decided to set up his own association in 2019, XL Biking, to raise awareness among companies and individuals of the need to raise funds through long-distance cycling expeditions.

A sports and solidarity project for children in Togo

For this 2019, the XL Biking association is committed to funding meals for underprivileged children in Togo as part of the school health program launched in 2002 by La Chaîne de l’Espoir. Donations collected will be dedicated to the children of the Adjallé elementary school supported by La Chaîne de l’Espoir, enabling a balanced daily meal to be provided for over 1,200 schoolchildren. One meal equals 30 centimes, which works out at 9 euros to provide 30 meals.

This initiative also aims to demonstrate the importance of good nutrition in reducing school drop-out rates and increasing academic success.
