Videoconference of cataract between Paris-Kabul

Course on congenital cataract treatment by videoconference

On Monday, May 27th, La Chaîne de l'Espoir welcomed Dr Emmanuel Bui Quoc, an ophthalmic surgeon, for a videoconference from Paris for Afghan doctors and surgeons in Kabul. It was in a studious atmosphere that he was able to provide a course on congenital cataract treatment and surgery to 28 Afghan doctors from hospitals all across the country.

A great mobilization of the ophthalmologist community

It is through the joint action of La Chaîne de l'Espoir and the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) in Kabul that such a conference was made possible. Dr Dominique Chauvaud, a senior ophthalmic surgeon and long-time volunteer of La Chaîne de l’Espoir, called on her network to find a specialist ; as for Dr Samin Sadiq, senior ophtalmologist at the FMIC, he mobilized all of the ophthalmologist community in Kabul. The organizers also benefited throughout the conference from the support of Dr Abdul Wahid Hafizi, an ophthalmology consultant at Cochin Hospital.

Many thanks to their concentrated efforts to improve access to care for the children of Afghanistan !
