Today, April 7, 2023, is World Health Day, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Like every year, this special date in the calendar aims to highlight various health-related issues. For this 2023 edition, which corresponds to the 75th anniversary of the WHO, the chosen theme is ” Health for All “. La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s mission is not insensitive to this, especially as it fights daily foraccess to healthcare for the most disadvantaged.

Health Day 2023: Health for all

A new year and a new theme for World Health Day! After the theme “Together for a fairer world” in 2021, which echoed the Covid-19 health crisis that revealed glaring inequalities in access to healthcare, and the theme “Our planet, our health” in 2022, the 2023 edition of Health Day is based around the theme: “Health for all”.

According to the WHO, this new theme is “acall to action to meet the health challenges of today and tomorrow. “

World Health Day: the 4 pillars of La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s actions

Given La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s medical mission, World Health Day has a special significance. Indeed, the theme chosen for the 2023 edition is particularly relevant to the association’s new communications campaign, which, under the rallying cry ” Objective 0 days: the more you donate, the less they wait “, aims to raise public awareness and reduce waiting times for sick children, so that they can finally benefit from appropriate medical care, regardless of their place of birth or the pathology from which they suffer.

On a daily basis, La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s actions in favor of access to healthcare for the most disadvantaged children are organized around the following 4 main pillars:

  • Care and surgery to meet the most urgent needs of children and mothers in France and abroad when they have no access to technical and financial resources in their home countries.
  • Training and skills transfer to local medical and paramedical teams thanks to our international network of medical experts.
  • Building and equipping hospitals in countries with inadequate healthcare structures.
  • Prevention and screening from the earliest age, notably as part of our school health programs.

In 2021, these actions will have resulted in 6,850 patients undergoing surgery, 250 host families welcoming sick children during their stay in France for surgery, 105 international missions, 90,000 people benefiting from our programs in nearly 30 countries, etc.
