International Nurses Day 2024

World Nurses Day, celebrated every year on May 12, has its origins in the desire to honor the vital role played by nurses in the healthcare field. With this in mind, La Chaîne de l'Espoir is fully committed to supporting and strengthening the skills of nurses around the world. Several initiatives have recently been launched as part of this commitment. An overview.

Building skills in Madagascar

Mariela, open-heart surgery in Madagascar

As part of our mission to improve healthcare in Madagascar, two ward nurses from the Centre Hospitalier de Soavinandriana (CENHOSOA) recently benefited from specialized training within the framework of South-South cooperation. The nurses were trained at the Cuomo Cardio-Pediatric Center in Dakar, built and equipped to international standards by La Chaîne de l’Espoir. The aim of this training is to prepare these nurses to take part in the launch of open-heart surgery at the CENHOSOA in Antananarivo. Thanks to this initiative, we are strengthening local capacities with a view to empowering the teams.

Medical mission in Nepal

In the Dolak district of Nepal, La Chaîne de l’Espoir recently carried out its first medical mission, focusing on capacity-building for nurses in the region’s schools. The mission included training sessions on annual health check-ups and the referral process to regional health centers. By working with local authorities and healthcare professionals, we aim to improve access to quality healthcare in remote areas.
