Senegal: new digestive endoscopy mission

From June 27 to July 1, 23 people benefited from an operation as part of the 3rd digestive endoscopy mission organized this year by La Chaîne de l'Espoir in Senegal.

Thirteen doctors and seven endoscopy assistants from five hospitals in Senegal were able to strengthen their skills alongside the La Chaîne de l’Espoir medical team. Commonly known as “fibroscopy”, endoscopy is a treatment with fewer complications.

In Senegal, the number of people affected by digestive pathologies is high. In addition, many children suffer from esophageal stenosis following accidental ingestion of caustic soda. The aim of this program is to develop a center of excellence in digestive endoscopy in Dakar, for the benefit of the whole of West Africa.
