Toky has contracted the Covid-19 virus, which doesn’t call his treatment into question, but further postpones his operation.
At present, he is under medical supervision and receiving treatment that allows him to wait. At the time of writing, we do not yet know when he will be able to undergo surgery.
We’ll be sure to let you know how he’s doing as soon as possible.
23/03/2020 – Save Toky, the 5-and-a-half-month-old baby
Toky, 5 and a half months old, lives in Madagascar with his 2 parents. Born premature, he was affected by an infection from his very first days. At 2 months, he underwent his first surgery to remove a hernia in his groin. Following this, Toky’s mother noticed that he was sweating profusely during feedings and that he was unable to put on weight. Very worried, she decided to take her son to see a doctor.
Dr. Nivo, our local medical referent, consulted him and confirmed his diagnosis: Toky suffers from a serious heart defect.
Given Toky’s complex pathology, Malagasy medical teams are unable to operate on him independently. What’s more, his parents earn too little to be able to finance such an operation on their own.
In fact, no less than €4,000 is needed to save their son.
There’s still time to save Toky
Fortunately, as soon as the global health situation allows, a surgical team from La Réunion is ready to travel to Madagascar for an operation.
By raising the necessary funds, Toky can be taken care of on this mission.
But we need to act fast: by making a donation now, you can help save this little Madagascan boy.
