Youth in solidarity in Nice
A young trio motivated to help sick children
Generosity knows no age. That’s what twelve-year-old seventh-graders Inès H., Inès S. and Pauline proved. The three classmates took up the challenge of manning a stand at the Village éco-solidaire in Nice on December 16, in aid of La Chaîne de l’Espoir.
“Two years ago, I had already taken part in this event with some girlfriends. So I told my friends about it. We immediately decided to donate the money from the sale to an association that helps children. That’s how we chose La Chaîne de l’Espoir”, says Inès H.
The preparations were no easy task. The first step was to collect as many toys and books as possible,” says Pauline. We advertised in our little brothers’ and sisters’ elementary school. The operation was a success: almost 300 books and 150 toys were put up for sale.
On the big day, the success was undeniable. In just a few hours, almost the entire stand, which they named “ Rêve d’enfants”, was sold out. And to give the association a high profile, the trio handed out a flyer introducing La Chaîne de l’Espoir to each visitor.
“At the end of the day, we only had one box of books left. Above all, we managed to raise 533 euros for La Chaîne de l’Espoir. It’s proof that, when you’re motivated, age doesn’t matter!” conclude the young friends.
