La Chaîne de l’Espoir joins the UTMB® for the 2020 edition
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc had to cancel the 2020 edition of the world-famous event. The event's founders, Catherine and Michel Poletti, wanted to ensure the health and safety of the many participants.
From August 24 to 30 in Chamonix and the Tour du Mont-Blanc resorts, the UTMB® offers you the chance to run while supporting La Chaîne de l’Espoir. To do so, register for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc via one of the 160 solidarity race numbers on sale from December 3 to December 16, 2019.
Since 2003, the UTMB® has become the must-attend international event for trail runners from all over the world. Every year, 10,000 passionate runners, supported by tens of thousands of spectators, take to the trails of Mont Blanc to take part in one of the seven trail running and ultra-endurance events to be held in the summer of 2020.
But the UTBM® is not just a sporting event, it’s also a solidarity event: every year, charities such as La Chaîne de l’Espoir are selected to be partners and beneficiaries of the solidarity bibs associated with the flagship UTMB race.

By choosing the La Chaîne de l’Espoir solidarity bib when you register for the UTMB®, you are helping to save children at the Children’s Pavilion in Hô Chin Minh-Ville.
Opened in 2018 by La Chaîne de l’Espoir, every year the Pavillon welcomes children with heart disease living in rural areas or in the highlands, whose parents do not have the means to finance the surgery that will save their child’s life. Thanks to its donors, La Chaîne de l’Espoir finances and cares for these children throughout their treatment.
For a child saved, for a life regained, the cost is 2,000 euros. Hundreds of little Vietnamese patients are waiting for an operation. The aim is to operate on more than thirty children by 2020.
