In Tours, La Chaîne de l’Espoir supports sick children

Our "Accompagnement des Enfants Hospitalisés en France" (AEH) program is expanding. At Tours University Hospital, young patients who receive few or no visits can now benefit from this program.
The hospitalized children program (AEH) in France aims to support isolated children during their stay in hospital. In 2021, this program supported 93 isolated children in thirteen establishments in the Île-de-France and La Réunion regions.

“Our role can be summed up as being there. That’s what makes it psychologically safe.

Sylvie Guillaume, AEH volunteer manager
A new partnership has been developed with Tours University Hospital to meet the needs of their small patients who receive few or no visits.

The strength of the AEH program lies in its close collaboration with the intervention establishments and the commitment of the volunteers, who receive training and follow-up throughout their involvement. The sun godmothers and godfathers, dedicated volunteers, devote between two and three days a week to visiting a child, sometimes over several months or years. For these very lonely children, most of whom are under the age of five, this accompaniment provides an opportunity for play, reading, dialogue and affection.
