In Mosul, La Chaîne de l’Espoir rehabilitates the medical care and research center
In Iraq, our association is involved in two major healthcare projects. Alongside the construction of the French Medical Center in Sinjar (SFMC), we are involved in the rehabilitation of the Medical Care and Research Center (MRCC ) in Mosul. Explanations.
A neglected healthcare facility
To the east of Sinjar, where the French Sinjar Medical Center stands, La Chaîne de l’Espoir is helping to rehabilitate the Medical Research and Care Centre (MRCC).
Located within the University of Mosul, this health facility was built and delivered in 2014 shortly before Daesh entered Iraq’s second city and capital of Nineveh province.
Since then, the center has been abandoned.
Several departments concerned
With the support ofExpertise France and theAgence française de développement, and in close collaboration with the Iraqi authorities, seven departments are gradually being brought back into service. These are the following departments:
- The diagnostics department,
- Cardiology department,
- Gastroenterology department,
- The nephrology and urology department,
- Oncology department,
- Neurology department,
- Infertility genetics department
The first consultations should be available to patients in the coming months. This project will improve health conditions in Nineveh by rehabilitating the University of Mosul’s MRCC and making it operational.
