France: 54 children transferred for life-saving treatment

In 2024, 54 children with cardiac pathologies were transferred to France thanks to La Chaîne de l'Espoir to receive life-saving care, with the support of volunteer host families and partner hospitals.

In 2024, La Chaîne de l’Espoir enabled 54 children to benefit from a medical transfer for surgery in France within seven partner Centres Hospitaliers Universitaires (CHU) as part of its Care for Children in France program.

The vast majority of these young patients came from Togo, Benin and Chad, and over half were under five years old.

All had heart conditions requiring surgery that was impossible to perform in their home countries, due to lack of infrastructure or trained personnel.

To welcome these children throughout their stay in France and support them in their care, 50 volunteer host families have been mobilized.
