Comoros: how does La Chaîne de l’Espoir operate in the archipelago?

A nation-state off the east coast of Africa, Comoros has joined the 11 countries already benefiting from the echoes® tele-echography platform.
Boxes were installed at the Centre Hospitalier National (CHN) Elmaarouf in Moroni and at theHombo Hospital in Anjouan in May 2023. Since then, echoes® sessions have been held every week, in partnership with the NGO Maeecha. During their consultations, Comorian cardiologists can benefit from diagnostic assistance from their colleagues at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) Félix Guyon in Saint-Denis de La Réunion or the CHU in Nantes.
In addition, as the archipelago does not have the capacity to operate on complex cardiac pathologies, one child was transferred to the neighboring island of La Réunion to undergo surgery that would have been impossible in his home country.
