Gadiel’s amputation can still be avoided!

Thanks to you, Gadiel is walking again

Just a few months ago, doctors in the Republic of Congo were consideringamputating a leg down to the thigh.

Today, Gadiel, a five-year-old Congolese boy, is walking again, and his leg, which was necrotic yesterday, has been saved. Between the two, a whole chain of solidarity has linked Congo to France: you, the donors of La Chaîne de l’Espoir, who made it possible for him to come to France; the doctors at Trousseau Hospital in Paris who operated on him three times to straighten his leg, affected by clubfoot; and the host family who took him in and supported him during his hospitalization and rehabilitation.

“During his stay, Gadiel healed his leg, but he also opened up to the world and to others. His experiences have changed him for the better.” Berenice Launay, Gadiel’s “host mother”.

His leg can only be saved in France!

In the Congo, Gadiel is a 5-year-old boy with a deformed leg and clubfoot.

He lives in Brazzaville with his parents. Until recently, he was able to take a few steps with great difficulty, leaning on his toes or the edges of the soles of his feet. Unfortunately, in trying to move forward in this painful way, he developed a serious pressure sore, a deep cutaneous wound that appeared in the areas where he was leaning too long.

Alas, all this causes constant pain, which becomes unbearable and prevents him from living like little boys of his age. Worse still, his disability has led to his being taken out of school, further isolating him from the other children.

Today, Gadiel can no longer walk. Due to the lack of infrastructure in the Congo, surgeons have only one option: amputate the boy’s leg.

By calling in the best specialists at Trousseau Hospital in Paris, Gadiel was able to avoid amputation and get back on his feet!

But it can only be operated on in France!

Despite the commitment of many volunteers in our Chaîne de solidarité to bring Gadiel to France, 10,000 euros will be needed to put the little boy on his feet. The child’s parents are unable to pay such a sum, which represents several years’ salary in the Congo.

Together, let’s get Gadiel back on its feet!

Let’s create a large chain from Brazzaville to Paris to give him access to the care he needs to walk again: treating his bedsore before performing 2 operations to straighten his foot and then his leg.
