Thanks to you, Soa’s life is no longer threatened!

Soa can now go back to school
Mariela, open-heart surgery in Madagascar

After her stay in Toulouse with her host family, the Lacroixes, Soa was able to return home to Madagascar. In France, she underwent surgery at the Toulouse University Hospital. Afflicted since birth with a serious cardiac pathology (Fallot’s tetralogy), this open-heart operation had become essential for her survival, but was impossible in Madagascar due to a lack of appropriate hospital facilities. Today, her convalescence is over and the 4-year-old has returned to her family, in top form!

“Welcoming Soa into our home for three months was a wonderful experience. She was so cheerful and courageous despite the treatment. Since her return, we’ve kept in touch by phone. What touches us most is that, thanks to the operation, she can now go to school. Marie-Françoise Lacroix, foster family

In Madagascar, little Soa suffers from a serious heart condition…

Soa, aged 4, was born in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.

A few months after her birth, little Soa suffered from measles, so her parents decided to take her to the pediatrician for treatment. During the consultation, the pediatrician diagnoses a heart murmur and advises the family to wait 1 year before carrying out in-depth cardiac examinations.

Soa wants to play like the other kids, but quickly runs out of steam.

As the months go by, little Soa grows up badly and has trouble catching her breath.

Her worried parents went back to see the attending physician. He noticed cyanosis, a bluish color in Soa’s lips, hands and feet.

As cyanosis is a sign of cardiac malformation, the doctor, who was familiar with the work of La Chaîne de l’Espoir in Madagascar, immediately referred the little girl for further examination and diagnosis. This is how the terrible news came about: Soa suffers from Tetralogy of Fallot, better known as ” blue disease “. This disease leads to poor blood circulation: unoxygenated blood spreads throughout the body. If left untreated, Soa will suffer from recurrent malaise and slowly exhaust herself due to constant shortness of breath.

Only open-heart surgery save his life!

Soa lives with both her parents, who unfortunately do not have the means to finance her operation. What’s more, open-heart surgery is not feasible in Madagascar, where the only adequately equipped operating theater is not yet operational.

Thanks to you, Soa can grow with peace of mind!

There is still one hope: to operate on Soa in France. The Toulouse University Hospital is ready to receive Soa for the operation that will save her life. A foster family is also available to accompany her during the operation and take care of her while she recuperates in France.

To give Soa a second wind, we need to raise €10,000. Together, let’s give hope to this family in Madagascar.
