News from Marcellin

Good news 13 years later
Mariela, open-heart surgery in Madagascar

13 years ago, the links in our Chain of Hope enabled us to bring Marcellin, a young boy suffering from a serious heart condition, to France. Following his operation in 2007, Marcellin returned to his home country, Cameroon, in great shape.

Despite the distance, he kept in regular contact with his foster family, whom he still calls “Maman Martine and Papa Daniel”.

A few weeks ago, Marcellin wrote to his host family to tell them the most wonderful news, which we also wanted to share with you: the birth of his daughter:

Mariela, open-heart surgery in Madagascar

Thank you, Mama Martine and Papa Daniel, here the joy is overflowing, the parents are so happy. I’m very happy too.

When I hold this child, I almost have tears in my eyes. It’s a fundamental step in my life. I’ll never stop thanking you, for you have been the great architects of this life.

Without knowing me, you welcomed me into your home, you gave me food and above all you gave me life, a life that I was gradually losing… […]. The most I can say to you is thank you from the bottom of my heart.
