News from Asséta
Asséta can finally believe in the future!

Originally from Burkina Faso, little Asseta suffered from a serious heart condition.
In Ouagadougou, for the teams at the Tengandogo University Hospital, supported by La Chaîne de l’Espoir, there was only one solution that could save her: come to France to undergo surgery as soon as possible. This trip saved her life!
“We welcomed Asseta for a month and a half in Nantes, where she underwent surgery. We’re very happy to have contributed to her rebirth. She arrived very tired and frightened, but she left with her confidence boosted. She has put on weight, is growing up and going to school. Today, she’s five years old, she’s doing well and life is opening up for her! Pascale Girard-Louault, foster family
Without surgery in France, Asséta cannot survive
Asséta is 4 and a half years old. She was born in Burkina Faso with a serious heart condition.
This very quiet little girl’s life is very different from that of other children… A year ago, her grandmother noticed that she wasn’t playing much with her friends. She often complained of stomach pains and ran out of breath quickly. Asséta often found herself isolated. It was during a medical examination that the doctors diagnosed a serious congenital heart defect… Asséta suffers from “Tetralogy of Fallot”.
This condition is known as “blue disease” because children who suffer from it often have a bluish tint around their lips and fingertips. Why is this so? Because the disease causes poor blood circulation, with unoxygenated blood spreading throughout the body. As a result, the little girl is constantly out of breath
Without intervention, Asséta will slowly burn out…

Her grandmother’s wish: an operation to save her
Asséta lives with her grandmother in Burkina Faso. She is raising her alone, following the sudden departure of Asséta’s mother. Of course, she still has hope for her little girl, and hopes with all her heart to save her, to give her a life like the other children, to allow her to play like the others.
There is a solution!
In Burkina Faso, health infrastructures are inadequate for complex pathologies such as that suffered by Asséta. What’s more, access to healthcare is extremely difficult for the most disadvantaged. Asséta therefore had to be operated on in France. A team can operate on her at the CHU in Nantes, and a host family is available to accompany her for the duration of her treatment.
But the cost of this operation prevents Asséta from having a new life. Asséta’s grandmother cannot cover the cost of the operation. Together, we need to raise €10,000.
