Let’s help Inaya, victim of a tragic accident
“Without the support of La Chaîne de l’Espoir, Inaya would not have survived. We had lost all hope. But today, she eats well and plays with her newborn sister,” says the father of this three-year-old Malian girl.
The news seems unexpected, given the horror of the little girl’s life after she was severely burned by boiling oil while playing at home near the kitchen stove. Her entire body and face were affected, causing Inaya terrible pain. Emergency surgery by Dr Moussa Daou, a specialist in reconstructive surgery at Bamako’s Gabriel Touré Hospital, saved her life, followed by a long program of skin grafts. Care that would have been impossible without your donations.
Burned all over her body, Inaya is disfigured

At the end of September, Inaya, a 3-year-old Malian girl from a poor suburb of Bamako, saw her life turned upside down in a matter of seconds. While a pot was heating on a plate on the floor, the little girl accidentally fell into the boiling oil, severely burning part of her body. Her head was hit, as were both her shoulders, her left arm and the top of her chest.
A slow and complicated remission
Initially, Inaya’s parents took her to Bamako’s Gabriel Touré hospital, where they unfortunately realized that their financial resources were insufficient. In fact, the girl’s father is a carpenter and earns less than 100 euros a month. The cost of treating this serious burn far exceeded his means.
Alerted to the situation, Dr. Moussa Daou, a specialist in reconstructive surgery at the hospital, decided to take charge of the girl’s initial care, advancing the costs to pay for consumables and bring her relief as quickly as possible.
Today, Inaya’s prognosis is no longer life-threatening, but the remission process has only just begun. She will have to begin the long program of skin grafts at the Hirzel Center in Bamako, a specialized facility for children requiring reconstructive surgery. The aim is to restore the little girl’s face, with priority given to eyelid and mouth transplants.
To save Inaya we need your help
We did the sums, and the total cost of care over several months came to 5,200 euros. To save her, Dr Moussa Daou is calling on us for help. He needs your help today.
So let’s work together to ensure that the little girl can continue her treatment and regain hope for the future.
For Inaya, let’s act now!
