Mayotte emergency: La Chaîne de l’Espoir takes action
On Saturday December 14, Cyclone Chido wreaked havoc on theisland of Mayotte, a French overseas region located in the Indian Ocean to the east of the Comoros archipelago and to the northwest of Madagascar. According to provisional figures, 31 people were killed, 45 were injured in absolute emergencies and 1,373 in relative emergencies.
Faced with this alarming situation, La Chaîne de l’Espoir, which has been fully committed to children’s health in France and internationally for 30 years, has decided to set up an emergency fund dedicated to Mayotte.
WE MUST ACT QUICKLY, BECAUSE THE WORST IS COMING…
Risk of epidemic, famine, lack of access to drinking water, antibiotics, painkillers, first-aid equipment… Mayotte needs all our support right now.
WITH YOU, WE CAN TAKE ACTION IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS…
In the face of this unprecedented crisis, La Chaîne de l’Espoir is mobilizing and counting on you: thanks to your support, emergency equipment and hygiene kits will be sent from La Réunion to Mayotte in the next few hours.
To help our fellow citizens, who have become even more vulnerable as a result of this disaster, La Chaîne de l’Espoir is joining forces today with partners already established in Mayotte. Our actions, coordinated with their teams on the ground, will enable us to provide first aid to the people of Mayotte.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your solidarity and generosity.
Working together for Mayotte
