In 2023, more support for hospitalized children and their families in France
The Accompagnement des Enfants Hospitalisés program continued its roll-out in 2023 with the opening of the program at Toulouse University Hospital and two of the city's follow-up care centers, as well as at the Institut d'Hématologie et d'Oncologie Pédiatrique in Lyon.
The Accompagnement des enfants hospitalisés (AEH) program now has twenty partner healthcare establishments in mainland France and La Réunion, where 131 children were cared for by volunteers this year.
The profile of beneficiaries changed in 2023, with an increasing number of children whose parents were present but needed respite. However, single children are still in the majority in the program.
Six training courses for “sun sponsors” were needed to strengthen the teams and enable the program to be rolled out.
