Eya’s heart is sick

This lively little girl deserves to live and grow up normally.
Mariela, open-heart surgery in Madagascar

When you’re 2 years old, you’ve got your whole life ahead of you, but unfortunately Eya isn’t so lucky. Doctors recently diagnosed her with a congenital heart defect, a ventricular septal defect, which forces her heart to work harder: chronic shortness of breath, stunted growth… Eya’s condition can deteriorate very quickly if we don’t take action.

Eya’s parents heard the news in their house in Porto Novo, Benin, which was far too small to house their family on their meagre income.

But that’s not all: further medical examinations also revealed the presence of an umbilical hernia that could cause a serious infection leading to intestinal necrosis…

These two pathologies endanger the life of this little girl, who is now greedy and playful. Her parents are worried and distraught: how to finance the operation in their already precarious situation, or rather the two operations that are essential to their child’s survival?

With your help, the little girl could undergo surgery in France and then resume a normal life with her family in Benin: breathing normally, starting school for the first time, playing and cooking with her mom… A real child’s life!

11,000 is the cost of his transfer to France, the operation and the treatment that could save his life.

In 2023, thanks to a formidable chain of solidarity, La Chaîne de l’Espoir was able to transfer 58 sick children to France: children suffering in most cases from birth defects, complex cardiac pathologies, but also ophthalmological or visceral pathologies.

La Chaîne de l’Espoir needs your support to save Eya and continue its work with other children whose lives are threatened.

Eya and her parents are counting on your support!
