Because of her illness, little Josefa cannot walk
Our medical missions in Jordan focus on pediatric cardiac and orthopedic care, post-surgical care and psycho-social support. They have already helped treat over 275 children since the program’s inception.
Today, we need your help to intensify this program by increasing the number of our missions to operate on around twenty children each time. Because, unfortunately, the situation of Syrian refugees is not improving and their return home is out of the question.
In a few days’ time, Dr Clémence Pfirrmann, a surgeon at Bordeaux University Hospital, will lead a French surgical team to the Jordanian capital, Amman. She will be operating on several refugee children suffering from gunshot wounds, amputation injuries, chest and brain trauma, and congenital malformations.
We need 32,000 euros to finance this mission and save the 20 children awaiting treatment.
Among them is 14-month-old Josefa, who suffers from developmental hip dysplasia, a birth defect that causes pain and difficulty walking. The only solution is a surgical operation costing 1,500 euros, an impossible sum for her father, a day laborer who barely earns a few Jordanian dinars.
It’s thanks to our donors that our doctors, nurses and volunteers are able to go on site to care for and treat the children. Your support will enable Josefa to benefit from life-saving surgery during the next pediatric orthopedic surgery mission to Jordan.
