New operating room in Sinjar, Iraq
La Chaîne de l’Espoir has collaborated with 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad to offer healthcare and support to communities in the Sinjar region, Northern Iraq, who have been persecuted by ISIS.
In February 2020, Doctor Eric Cheysson, president of La Chaîne de l’Espoir, unveiled the newly constructed emergency operating room at Sinjar General Hospital.
The room was constructed by our teams, alongside the Iraqi Ministry of Health, the French Ambassador in Iraq and The French Crisis and Support Center.
It is the first step in our mission to construct an extensive, general hospital and bring greater health outcomes to the vulnerable population living in Iraqi Kurdistan.
