Afghanistan: IMFE, a hospital of excellence in the face of humanitarian crisis

As poverty and famine explode in Afghanistan since the Taliban's return to power, La Chaîne de l'Espoir remains mobilized to help the Afghan population. The Institut Médical Français pour la Mère et l'Enfant (IMFE), built and co-managed by our association, continues to welcome and offer care to the most vulnerable children and families in every province of the country. A unit opened in 2022 will also take care of children suffering from severe malnutrition.

Since the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan, the end of financial aid and the introduction of international economic sanctions, the country has been plunged into an alarming humanitarian crisis. Afghans lack everything: food, water, healthcare.

Faced with this tragedy unfolding before our very eyes, it is more essential than ever to help the Afghan people, for whom we have been working for over twenty years with La Chaîne de l’Espoir(find out more about our work in Afghanistan).

Our work in the field continues, with the Institut Médical Français pour la Mère et l’Enfant (IMFE) and its nutrition unit providing care, welcoming families to the Pavillon des Enfants and training caregivers.
